MASTER OF MEDICINE(TRADITIONAL CHINESE MEDICINE)(CHINESE)- JOINTLY CONDUCTED WITH NANJING UNIVERSITY OF CHINESE MEDICINE

The Master of Medicine (Traditional Chinese Medicine) (Chinese) is jointly conducted by the Singapore College of TCM and Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine to cultivate advanced TCM professionals with strong theoretical foundations and practical skills to further promote the development of Traditional Chinese Medicine. To grasp the basic theories and professional knowledge of TCM with a more systematic approach; To possess the ability to carry out scientific research on TCM; To focus on the systematic mastering of TCM basic theories as well as diagnostic and treatment methods of TCM, and to possess the ability to carry out TCM clinical research studies and clinical treatments.

3-year part-time programme

Graduation and Degree Conferment:
(1) The student will be eligible for graduation upon meeting the requirements of all aspects of this Coursework programme and upon passing the thesis defense, within the specified maximum study time. Graduation shall be approved only after review by the College and the graduate school.
(2) The student must obtain graduation qualifications and meet the relevant regulations of the "Degree Conferment Conditions" in the "Details for the Conferment of Doctoral and Master's Degrees of Nanjing University of Chinese Medicine". Degrees of corresponding levels will only be awarded after review by the Degree Evaluation Subcommittees and the Degree Evaluation Committee.

Research of Emperor's Canon of Medicine

Through intensive study of the Emperor's Canon of Medicine (Huangdi Neijing), graduate students can further systematically master the basic theories and fundamental knowledge of TCM, become more familiar with the academic thoughts, academic characteristics and modes of thinking behind the theoretical system of Huangdi Neijing; master the research methods of the Neijing and cultivate the ability to study classical medical literature so as to lay a solid foundation for their future research and clinical work in TCM.

Clinical Application and Theory of Seasonal Febrile Diseases

With the Six-Meridian Syndrome Differentiation Theory of the Treatise on Exogenous Febrile Diseases as its core, with close integration to clinical practice, through teaching corresponding prescriptions and syndromes, graduate students can better master the principles of clinical syndrome differentiation and treatment, modes of thinking and application of skills, laying a solid foundation for improving the clinical standards of syndrome differentiation and treatment.

Research of Synopsis of Golden Chamber

The teaching of this module should enable graduate students to master the basic theories, viewpoints and skills covered in the Synopsis of the Golden Chamber; master the rules of syndrome differentiation and treatment of miscellaneous diseases; broaden clinical thinking; improve the comprehensive analysis and treatment of difficult and complicated diseases; as well as the ability to read classical medical books so as to lay a solid foundation for improving the ability of diagnosis and treatment of diseases in various clinical fields.

Research of Seasonal Febrile Diseases

The teaching of this module should enable graduate students to master the theoretical system of seasonal febrile diseases and the diagnosis and treatment skills of common febrile diseases using the "Defense, Qi, Nutrient and Blood Syndrome Differentiation" and "Triple Energizer Syndrome Differentiation" as its core; train students to focus on the holistic approach towards symptoms and disease while prioritizing the syndrome in the treatment of seasonal febrile diseases, reveal the nature of seasonal febrile diseases, and study syndrome differentiation and treatment methods for various clinical febrile diseases.

Methodology of Clinical Research in Traditional Chinese Medicine

Methodology of Clinical Research in Traditional Chinese Medicine is a scientific research methodology subject that integrates literature research methods, clinical trial designs and common experimental techniques. Literature research methods, clinical trial designs and experimental techniques are important components of TCM research. The study of this module plays an important role in the guidance of literature research, clinical trials and fundamental research. Therefore, Methodology of Clinical Research in Traditional Chinese Medicine is a practical scientific research methodology subject and serves as a basic subject for graduate students.

Integrating the classic medical cases of renowned modern TCM physicians, this subject explains the physicians’ unique use of prescription herbs and their experiences in syndrome diagnosis and treatment. The study of this subject would enable graduate students to broaden their clinical perspectives and improve their diagnosis and treatment skills.

Guidance in Dissertation Writing

Guidance in dissertation writing mainly introduces the purpose, significance, characteristics, writing methodologies of graduate thesis writing as well as various standards, norms, and language habits, etc. that need to be adhered to in thesis writing. This will enable graduate students to improve thesis writing skills by acquiring the necessary knowledge, and be familiar with the standards and methodologies in thesis writing, so as to write a thesis that is scientific, compliant with standards, and concise.
