Stress is a norm in today’s lifestyle and workplace. How we manage it will determine how much better we can handle such pressures in life. This talk will discuss the commonly encountered stresses (e.g. biomechanical, occupational and psychological) from the perspective of Chinese Medicine and introduce how self-regulation can help us cope with these external pressures. The first session will be examining the commonly seen pain syndromes and how Chinese Medicine, simple stretching and massage techniques can better help alleviate these discomforts. The second session will be discussing how we can better manage stress in today’s hectic lifestyle.

简介：中药制剂是指在中医药理论的指导下，根据法定处方或其它有规定依据的处方，将中药材加工制成具有一定质量标准、可直接用于临床的适宜剂型。 传统中药制剂的每一种剂型都有各自的特点，本系列讲座，将介绍常用剂型的制备技术，重点突出常用剂型的有关概念、制备工艺和质量控制，根据制法特点选用具体实例，通过实验，让大家充分了解剂型的特点、处方组成、工艺流程和质量控制等中药制剂的基本知识。 第一讲，将介绍膏方及蜜丸的制备，大家一起动手，学习如何制备枇杷膏及六味地黄丸。 第二讲，将介绍颗粒剂及胶囊的制备，大家一起动手，学习如何制备板蓝大青颗粒及六味地黄胶囊。 由于此讲座涉及实际操作，每班人数限定30位。

Herbal soups and drinks are commonly used in TCM to cure illness. In many cases, they also have been used in our daily life, knowingly or unknowingly, as a form of food nutrition and healthcare to strengthen our health or alleviate our uncomfortable symptoms such as excessive phlegm, heatiness and cough etc. In some cases, some of the herbal soups and drinks that you have tried may be effective on one occasion but on another occasion, they are either ineffective or could worsen your symptoms. One of the main reasons is due to individual body constitution. The concept of body constitution is widely applied in the practice of TCM. Body constitution consideration is an important process for clinical diagnosis and treatment, and it also lays the foundation for health promotion and disease prevention. This talk will cover the nine different types of body constitution. It will also provide an opportunity for the participants to identify their own individual body constitution. For different types of body constitution, relevant and suitable herbal soups/recipes will be introduced. The speaker will also explain some of the easily available off-the-shelf herbal soups/recipes purpose and efficacy. Through a better understanding of individual body constitution and various herbal soups/recipes, one can then able to select the appropriate herbal soups/recipes to achieve the right healing effect.

失眠是现代社会的常见疾病，常表现为入睡困难、多梦易醒、早醒后不能再入睡，或白天有睡眠不足、乏力倦怠等感觉。中医对失眠有深入的研究，治法多元，无论是中药疗法、针灸推拿疗法、药膳疗法皆有较好的疗效。邵永鑫医师将为您介绍失眠的常见病因，以及如何运用简易的中医药食膳与经络保健按摩方法来改善睡眠问题。

TCM, an oriental and complete medical system arising from a living tradition that spans at least 5,000 years from China. Resting upon a well-structured, solid and coherent theoretical basis (such as Yin-yang, five elements and meridian systems), TCM provides an integral framework for understanding, interpreting and organizing intervention in the human health-disease process. In this talk, participants will be given a brief introduction to TCM, to have a better understanding of how TCM works. Participants will also have the opportunity to discover they own body type (Yin or Yang) through a simple survey. To counter discomfort resulting from long flights and long hours at the work desk, participants will be introduced some of the acupressure techniques and acupoints commonly used to relieve oneself from such discomfort. Hands-on opportunities will be given where possible to gain a better experiential learning.
